Lucy Liu was born in the US. She is an American singer, actress as well as a voice actress. As an intelligent and attractive actress, she serves as a role model for many Asian actors in Hollywood that want to be successful. Following a string of appearances on popular television series, she became famous for her role as a character in Ally McBeal legal comedy where she portrayed Ling Woo. It was a moment of fame that led to films roles like Shanghai Noon or Charlie's Angels. After that, she delivered an excellent role in Quentin Tarantino Kill Bill Volume 1 as Japanese criminal O Ren Ishii. Around the same time she was also in the lead role in a few films that failed at the box office, such as Rise: Blood Hunter. Then she began voicing characters from animated films like Kung Fu Panda or Tinker Bell. Mia Mason's role on Cashmere Mafia, a small screen production, didn't bring about the results. Southland was a highly acclaimed police drama that Liu starred regularly, was a role which helped to reestablish she is famous as an actor.
