Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin has been an actress across Canada as well as New Zealand for over a decade. Paquin is a native of Winnipeg and grew up in Wellington and made her stage debut in the role of Flora McGrath when she played her role of Flora McGrath in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 for Best Supporting Actress. Anna Paquin's full name was Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was an Canadian born New Zealand actress. As as a young girl, she was awarded the Academy Award for best support actress. Her role as the empathetic and curious young girl Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) brought her the award. As a result of an audition, Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter a Scottish piano player. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician, who emigrated to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. The actress moved from New Zealand to United States as a teen. Paquin played a minor role as the title character when she was still a kid as part of Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) as well as she was a leading character in the movie Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams in a 1997 film adaptation for television of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding and had a minor role in the role of Queen Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). She also portrayed the teen groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
